Two Blitz Chess tournaments will be organized during XIV International RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2018. Guaranteed prize fund of each separate tournament is 100 000₽.

Kids would play on children Blitz Chess tournament on January 25 at 4 pm. To confirm the participation or to fill in the registration form chess players can on the same day from 10 am to 3.50 pm.

Second Blitz Chess tournaments would be for everybody who wants to play, on February 5 at 11 am. You can submit an application on January 27 (the registration day for major tournaments) and also on February 4 from 2 pm to 7 pm (the additional registration).

Three-time winner of the Worldwide Chess Competition Aleksey Dreev will provide us with the chess master-classes during RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2018 additional program. Meet chess master on January 27, 28, 29. Master-classes will begin at 12 am.

The master-classes topic is Chess techniques in the middlegame.

Draw your attention to the additional events of RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2018: visit National conference Chess in School, FIDE Arbiters' Seminar, Qualification improvement courses and two RSSU Blitz Chess tournaments.

International scientific conference Chess in School will be organized in Russian State Social University (building 1 floor 5 Academic Council hall) on January 30 during RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open business program.

Undergraduates, postgraduates, graduate students, young scientists, chess coaches, chess teachers, professional and non-professional chess players and others who interested in chess game are invited to participate the conference and listen the discussion.

Such topics will be discussed at the round tables during the conference.

XIV International RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open begins in less than a month. One of the most important events there is All-Russian National Student Chess League Championship. The tournament is held in Russian State Social University from January 25(arrival date for the participants) to February 3(departure date) in 2018. General guaranteed prize fund is 500 000₽.

Undergraduates, postgraduates and graduate students (day studies) are invited to take part. Participants have to be no more than 25 years old (1993 date of birth and younger).
The tournaments are organized under the Swiss system with 9 rounds in three sections.

Winner of the Moscow Open Men’s Cup of Russia 20-year old Dmitry Gordievsky is speaking of his success with the tournament official website correspondent Alina Bivol.

- Hello, Dima. For the second year in a row you’re sharing the first place in the Moscow Open. What’s the secret of your success?

- I’ve been participating in the Moscow Open tournament since the moment when the festival was created. It’s strange but all the previous years I considered the Moscow Open to be the worst tournament for myself as I was playing very unsuccessfully there. I’m very glad, I managed to change this tendency.

It’s hard to compare these two tournaments. Last year I was trying to catch up my opponents: I lost in the fourth round, then I played in a draw, and at the end of the tournament I won five times in a row.

The winner of the Women’s Cup of Russia tournament Oksana Gritsayeva is telling on her road to success to the official website correspondent Alina Bivol.

- Hello, Oksana! Congratulations on the brilliant performance! How did you manage to show such a result?

- Of course I wouldn’t be able to score 8,5 points without the help from my opponents.  The struggle was hard in all of the games, sometimes my opponents made mistakes, sometimes I managed to win over them. It was a hard game against Polina Shuvalova, sitting at the board I didn’t understand how I could win. As a result she made a mistake and I managed to win. I received a nice queen gambit in the game with Alina Kashlinskaya. I knew I was risking by playing such sharp variants before the last round, but I didn’t want just to sit and defend against Alisa Galliamova.

Young grandmaster Vladislav Artemiev (Kazan) clinched the first place in the RSSU Blitz Chess Cup that was held Monday, February 6 within the frames of the International RSSU Cup, 2017 Moscow Open additional program. He scored 8 points in 9 rounds. 15-year old Alexander Tryapishko (Crimea) showed the same result but his tie-breaks turned to be lower, and he took the second place. We should mark that Artemiev also won this tournament last year.

The bronze medal was won by the experienced international master Alexander Reprintsev (Ukraine). He scored 7,5 points and outran two more representatives of Ukraine – Kirill Shevchenko and Vitaliy Bernadskiy due to tie-breaks.

Evgenia Shukhareva (Rostov-on-Don), Anastasia Sazonova (TYumen) and Elmira Mirzoeva (Moscow) with 5,5 points showed the best result among women.

The Award Ceremony of winners and medalists of the RSSU Chess Cup, 2017 Moscow Open was held Sunday evening, February 5 in the assembly hall of the RSSU main building. The Russian State Social University Rector Natalya Borisovna Pochinok, the Russian Blind Sports Federation President, the International Blind Sports Federation member Lidia Pavlovna Abramova, the Moscow Chess Federation first Vice-President Nikita Vladimirovich Kim and the sports society Lokomotiv Chairman Ilya Andreevich Vdovin came to congratulate participants of the competitions.

“Please accept my sincerest congratulations on the bright end of our tournament. I’d like to mark our contribution into the opening of the National Student Chess League, – Natalya Borisovna mentioned.

Dmitry Gordievsky (Moscow) and Vladislav Artemiev (Kazan) shared the first place in the 2017 Moscow Open Men’s Cup of Russia. Both grandmasters scored 7,5 points in nine rounds. Last round Gordievsky played in a draw with Gata Kamsky (USA) and Artemiev won over Maksim Vavulin (Moscow). Higher tie-breaks allowed the chess player from Moscow to climb the top of the podium.

The third place was shared between Boris Grachev (Moscow), Denis Khismatullin (Neftekamsk), Gata Kamsky (USA), Maksat Atabayev (Turkmenia) and Evgeny Levin (St. Petersburg). These chess players occupy the lines of the table in this order. The bronze belongs to Grachev.

221 chess players from 16 countries of the world were struggling for the victory.

This year the RSSU Men’s Veteran Cup registered more than 170 participants. According to the final results the grandmaster Evgeny Sveshnikov (Chelyabinsk) and the international master Alexander Filipenko (Izhevsk) scored 7,5 points. Sveshnikov won a gold medal due to tie-breaks.

Five participants scored half a point less: the best tie-breaks allowed Evgenij Kalegin (Ufa) to win the third place. Evgeni Dragomarezkij, Oleg Zilbert (both from Moscow), Amanmurad Kakageldyev (Turkmenia) and Anatoli Shvedchikov (Moscow) occupy the next lines below in the table.

We should add, Evgeny Ellinovich Sveshnikov wins the RSSU Veteran Cup for the second time (2012, 2017).
