Winners and Medalists of the RSSU Chess Cup, 2017 Moscow Open Received Deserved Awards

The Award Ceremony of winners and medalists of the RSSU Chess Cup, 2017 Moscow Open was held Sunday evening, February 5 in the assembly hall of the RSSU main building. The Russian State Social University Rector Natalya Borisovna Pochinok, the Russian Blind Sports Federation President, the International Blind Sports Federation member Lidia Pavlovna Abramova, the Moscow Chess Federation first Vice-President Nikita Vladimirovich Kim and the sports society Lokomotiv Chairman Ilya Andreevich Vdovin came to congratulate participants of the competitions.

“Please accept my sincerest congratulations on the bright end of our tournament. I’d like to mark our contribution into the opening of the National Student Chess League, – Natalya Borisovna mentioned. – Today we are awarding the elite of the chess world and I would like to thank you, dear colleagues. Without you our chess festival wouldn’t have been possible.” – Natalya Pochinok said. The RSSU Rector thanked the Department of Sport and Tourism of Moscow, the Management of sports and entertainment events of Moscow as well as the sponsors of the tournament.

Lidia Abramova addressed words of gratitude to the Organizing Committee of the festival. “13 is a lucky number for us. As for the first time ever blind and visually impaired chess players took part in the XIII International RSSU Cup. I’m very glad, this year players from 31 countries of the world participated in the festival, and I hope, next year every participating country will bring a team of disabled chess players to Moscow.”

The Moscow Chess Federation first Vice-President Nikita Kim thanked the RSSU Rector Natalya Pochinok and all the partners of the festival: the Department of Sport and Tourism of Moscow, the Management of sports and entertainment events of Moscow, the Legacy Square Capital investment fund. “It would be very hard to organize such a major festival without the help and support of our colleagues and friends, whom we have been working with for 13 years already. I hope we will continue our cooperation in future.”

“We’ve become a member of this family not so long ago, but in the course of several years, we’ve been supporting the festival, we understand that railway men and colleagues from other key industries are playing here. I’d love to emphasize an important part the chess is playing in our society. Thanks to everyone for beautiful games, I wish you to develop and win in future,” – Ilya Vdovin concluded.

The Award Ceremony of winners and medalists of the festival took place after the official part. In addition to the main prizes from the organizers, winners also received memorable gifts from the Lokomotiv sports society.

In conclusion Natalya Borisovna once again thanked everybody for the participation in the festival and announced the XIII RSSU Cup, 2017 Moscow Open closed.
