Semen Lomasov and Anastasia Bodnaruk are Leading in the Moscow Open Cups of Russia Tournaments

One round before the finish new sole leaders appeared in the main tournaments of the 14th International RSSU Cup, the 2018 Moscow Open – tournaments of the Men’s and Women’s Cups of Russia.

15-year old Muscovite Semen Lomasov with 7 points is leading in the Men’s competition. This round he won over the grandmaster from Israel Tamir Nabaty, who topped the tournament before. Nabaty and two Russians Vladimir Zakhartsov (Moscow) and Maksim Samusenko (Tatarstan) remain half a point behind the leader. In the final ninth round Lomasov will play white with Samusenko, and Nabaty will play also white with Zakhartsov.

11 chess players with 6 scored points also claim the medals.

Anastasia Bodnaruk from St. Petersburg now tops the chart of the Women’s Cup of Russia competition, she scored 7 points after eight game days. In the game of the eighth round she won over Dinara Dordzhieva from Moscow. Aydan Hojjatova (Azerbaijan) and Swaminathan Soumya (India) remain half a step behind the leader. Seven chess players scored 6 points, including the ranking favorite of the tournament Alina Kashlinskaya. Bodnaruk will play Soumya and Hojjatova – Kashlinskaya in the games of the last round.

Evgeni Dragomarezkij is keeping leadership in the RSSU Veteran Cup. The player from Moscow has 7,5 points after a draw in the eighth round. Evgeniy Kalegin (Ufa), Sergey Birjukov (Moscow), Alexandr Provotorov (Kaluga region), Nikolai Mishuchkov (Leningrad region) and Arkadi Vul (Moscow region) with one scored point less follow the leader.

Elena Sazonova (Tyumen) and Galina Strutinskaia (Moscow) are sharing leadership in the Women’s Veteran Cup of Russia. Both chess players scored 6,5 points. Elena Fatalibekova and Larisa Khropova from Moscow are now at the third and fourth positions, they scored 6 and 5,5 points correspondingly.

The last round will define the winner of the RSSU Amateur Cup. Igor Volkov (Crimea) is a leader according to the results of the eighth game day. He scored 7,5 points. Alexey Irkha (Orenburg region), Marat Denishev (Moscow region) and Alexey Evdokimov (Vladimir region) remain one point less behind the player from Crimea.

It should be noted that the games of the decisive ninth round will start on Sunday, February 4 at 11:00 Moscow time. The Award Ceremony of winners and medalists of the competition will start at 18:00 Moscow time.
