Saturday, February 3 the RSSU assembly hall hosted the Ceremony Closing of the competitions for school children and students, which were ran in the course of nine days within the frames of the 2018 Moscow Open festival.
RSSU Rector, doctor of economics Natalya Pochinok, first Vice-President of the Chess Federation of Moscow Nikita Kim, World Vice-Champion Sergey Karyakin, Sberbank-AST Development Director Yulia Obalyaeva, Director of the Department of the State Policy in the Sphere of Education of Children and the Youth by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Igor Mikheev, Director of the Department of the State Policy in the Sphere of Vocational Education and Training Inna Chernoskutova took part in the ceremony.
Igor Mikheev wished best of luck to all of the participants and confirmed that the Ministry of Education will continue to support and develop the sport of chess.
Inna Chernoskutova joined him in wishing success and said that playing chess can lead to becoming a successful person and cooperating with many people.
Yulia Obalyaeva wished the participants to come back to their victories at this tournament with warmth in the heart. “All the emotions are left behind. But memories that will help you to achieve new goals will always remain with you. I congratulate you on the end of the tournament,” – Yulia Igorevna concluded.
Natalya Pochinok congratulated all the participants and their parents on the end of the tournament. Also in her speech RSSU Rector stressed the importance of playing chess. “I want the year of 2018 to become a year of chess. I wish, every school could provide an ability to play chess. I believe, chess is our future,” – Natalya Borisovna noted. Pochinok also marked the invaluable support of the Department of Sport and Tourism of Moscow. In the conclusion RSSU Rector thanked Sergey Karyakin and passed the floor to him.
In his turn Karyakin thanked Natalya Pochinok for the organization of one of the major chess festivals in Russia. “I congratulate the winners and medalists on successful performance. I wish all of you to develop your skills. Please, come next year!” – the grandmaster from Moscow finished his speech.
Nikita Kim said, the Moscow Open RSSU Cup is held for the 14th time and thanked all the partners for support and assistance with the organization of the festival. In conclusion Vice-President of the Moscow Chess Federation addressed the audience with an offer to applaud our capital, these days hosting the chess players from more than 30 countries of the world.
After the end of the Ceremony World Vice-Champion Sergey Karyakin took part in the autograph signing and photo session.
