Tamir Nabaty Tops the Men’s Cup of Russia. There Are Three Leaders in the Women’s Tournament

The grandmaster from Israel Tamir Nabaty is the sole leader of the 2018 Moscow Open Men’s Cup of Russia. After the victory over Nikolai Shukh from Russia in the seventh round he has 6,5 scored points. Young Moscow chess players Nikita Afanasiev and Semen Lomasov are sharing the third place, they remain behind the leader at a half-step distance. Nine players scored 5,5 points.

There are three leaders in the Women’s Cup of Russia tournament two rounds before the finish: Dinara Dordzhieva (Moscow), Aydan Hojjatova (Azerbaijan) and Anastasia Bodnaruk (St. Petersburg) scored 6 points. Marina Nechaeva (Fryazino, Moscow region), Baira Kovanova (Saratov) and Swaminathan Soumya (India) scored half a point less and follow the leader.

Evgeni Dragomarezkij continues to win in the RSSU Veteran Cup, now the Moscow grandmaster has seven wins! Sergey Birjukov (Moscow) and Sergey Pozin (Khanty-Mansiysky autonomous region) follow the leader with one point less. Eight participants of the tournament scored 5,5 points.

The struggle for the first place in the RSSU Women’s Veteran Cup has toughened. There are four leaders after 7 rounds: Elena Fatalibekova, Larisa Khropova and Galina Strutinskaia (all from Moscow), Elena Sazonova (Tyument), all scored 5,5 points.

The chess player from Orenburg region Alexey Irkha won seven times in a row in the amateur tournament. Igor Volkov (Crimea) is half a point behind the leader. Marat Denishev (Moscow region), Artem Galaktionov and Alexander Spichkin (both from Moscow), Alexey Evdokimov (Vladimir region) scored 6 points.

The games of the next to the last round of the competitions will be played Saturday, February 3.
