Four Rounds of the National Student Chess League Championship Are Over

The National Student Chess League Championship is held within the frames of the RSSU Moscow Open Cup for the third time. This year representatives of 11 countries play in the competition, including two grandmasters, five international masters and 17 FIDE masters. 99 players struggle in the individual event and 25 teams play in the team event.

Three players with four wins are leading the individual event after four rounds – they are Bibek Thing (RSSU-1, Moscow), Alexey Mokshanov (Samara State Aerospace University, Samara) and Kirill Kozionov (Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism-1, Moscow). Four chess players with half a point less follow the leading group, including ranking favorites David Paravyan (Ural State Mining University, Ekaterinburg) and Vladimir Zakhartsov (National University of Science and Technology “MISiS”, Moscow). 

5 players are showing the best result in the women’s tournament: Asya Arutyunova (Yaroslavl State Medical Academy, Yaroslavl), Darya Gorovenko (RSSU-1, Moscow), Anastasia Bykova (Kuban State University, Krasnodar), Ayana Khangueva (Mosow Technical University, Moscow) and Alexandra Alieva (Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism-1, Moscow), each of them scored 3 points.

Teams from Moscow with 7 scored points are leading in the team event – Russian State Social University (Bibek Thing, Darya Gorovenko) and Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism (Kirill Kozionov, Alexandra Alieva). Three teams with one and a half points less are following the leaders. These teams represent Lomonosov Moscow State University (Svetlana Tishova, Dmitriy Aleksandrovskiy), Samara State Aerospace University (Alexey Mokshanov, Darya Makarova) and Ural State Mining University (David Paravyan, Anna Styazhkina).

Competitions are played in 9 rounds according to the Swiss system. Winners will be announced on February 3.
