Friday, January 26 the Ceremony Opening of the School Champions’ Cup – Zhuravsky Memorial and the National Student League Championship was held in the assembly hall of the RSSU. Organizers and partners of the festival came to greet participants and guests of the competition: Sberbank-AST Director General Nikolay Andreev, founder of the Sozvezdie Dobra charity foundation, first Vice-President of the Liga Stavok bookmaker company Olga Zhuravskaya, first Vice-Presdient of the Moscow Chess Federation Nikita Kim, RSSU first pro-rector Alexander Soldatov.
Nikolay Andreev wished best of luck to everybody and marked that participation in this competition will provide players with invaluable experience. Nikita Kim joined him by thanking all the present for their participation in the event.
“You were smart to choose such a beautiful and intellectual kind of sport. I wish new discoveries and fascinating play to all of you,” – Olga Zhuravskaya said.
Alexander Soldatov wished bright victories to the participants on behalf of hosts, and after the welcoming speech he declared the tournament open.
The Dinamichnye Rebyata dance team and master of magic Yury Savitsky showed their skills to the guests of the ceremony. The last played the tic-tac-toe game with the kids that aroused their admiration.
We should notice, this time more than 850 young chess players take part in the RSSU School Champions’ Cup – Zhuravsky Memorial, which makes 100 people more in comparison with the last year.
The competition will be played for 9 days and will be over on February 3.
